Beautiful India -
Holidays to Goa.
We have a holiday and travel guide as well as many pictures about our several weeks holiday
in India when we stayed at the lovely and peaceful Bogmalo Beach in Goa. This holiday in India was certainly
one of the best holidays we have ever had - the food was brilliant with loads of
different curries, fish and rice dishes to chose from and really inexpensive
especially when using the beach restaurants. The beaches along Goa's coastline are fantastic and
many are so large that they cannot be crowded. Getting around in this part of India is thankfully really cheap too
since there is so much sightseeing you can do whilst
on holiday in Goa - from fantastic waterfalls to beautiful old buildings to
wildlife. Please see our Goa Main Page
Goa Bogmalo and

Beautiful India - Karnataka. Whilst in Goa we also decided we would like to try out a trip into the Indian Jungle for a
bit of tiger spotting so we travelled south into Karnataka State and went to stay in the jungle just
outside of Dandeli. Sadly we had no luck at all in spotting tigers although there were apparently some
around however we did see lots of wildlife including plenty of crocodiles etc.
We did this trip on our own i.e. it was not organised with a holiday company or travel agency.
All we did was
take a train ride from Vasco da Gama down to Karnataka State
and then hired a jeep and driver to take us from the railway station for the last 40 kilometres on through the
Indian jungle to a "jungle wildlife" camp located on the banks of the River Kali a little outside of Dandeli. We have lots of photos from around there and also
have information on several local trips including and exciting white water raft trip on the River Kali.
Please visit our DANDELI travel and holiday guide.
This series of holiday guides cover visiting the above Indian locations during February and March 2009. There are obviously various ways to create an itinerary for a multi-city holiday in India - the locations below are in the order we ended up travelling and included using internal flights, Indian Railways and by using long distance taxis.
Delhi and New Delhi Holiday Guide. New Delhi itself is huge covering nearly 43 sq kms and is the Capital of India and the Country's seat of government - it lies as a small part of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Apart from the world famous tourist spots like Delhi's Red Fort there are a surprising amount of other Forts, lovely peaceful gardens like the Lodi Gardens, Museums, Temples and other interesting places to visit whilst on holiday there. Please see our Delhi topic for information about staying in Delhi as well as getting around sightseeing whilst on holiday in India.
India - Varanasi. Located in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh, Varanasi is a huge city which lies alongside the River Ganges or
Ganga - and is world famous for it's extensive series of Ghats including Manikarnika Ghat (Burning Ghat). The City is well
served by several internal airlines, long distance buses and by Indian Railways and is certainly a good choice for visiting whilst on holiday.
Please see our Varanasi Holiday Guide for information on what to see and do - including many pictures from
around the River Ganga and it's Ghats as well as visiting nearbye Sarnath.
Khajuraho Travel and Holiday Guide. Situated in Madhya Pradesh the small Indian town of
Khajuraho is extremely popular with tourists due to it having one of the largest groups of medieval Jain and
Hindu temples in the world. Although Khajuraho's temples are probably most famous for the erotic carvings on
their outer walls the majority of these carvings depict the everyday life of Indians rather than their sexual
activities. If on holiday in India Khajuraho is certainly one place to definitely visit for a few days. Our
Khajuraho holiday guide has information on getting to the town, accommodation and food, but most of all lots
of pictures of these wonderful temples.
Orchha, India Holiday Guide Orcha (also known/spelt as Orcha
or Urchha) is a very small
Indian Town located in India's Madyha Pradesh State which is packed with lots of
really interesting places to visit - and also benefits from having the beautiful
River Betwa running through it. Rather than temples as found in Khajuraho
the town and surrounding area has a beautiful fort-palace, bridges, cenotaphs
and buildings for sightseeing - plus it does have one or two temples as well...
Please visit our Orcha topic for information about getting there, accommodation
and so on, plus lots of photos from around the various sites.
Agra Holiday Guide - India. Travel and Holiday Guide with quite a few
photos showing a visit to Agra's impressive Red Fort and also of course the
world famous Taj Mahal Mausoleum which was completed in 1643 for Mumtaz Mahal
who was the favourite wife of the Emperor Shah Jahan. There is also a topic
about visiting and sightseeing Fatehpur Sikri which is located just a few
kilometres outside of Agra - and should certainly not be missed out whilst on
vacation in this part of India.
Jaipur, India Vacation and Travel Guide. Holiday and Travel Guides and Photos
for Jaipur. Guide to visiting and sightseeing the Pink City in Rajasthan, India which is packed with some really beautiful
palaces and forts - including the amazing Palace of Wind, Jaipur's City Palace and
excellent museums. Jaipur is a really clean and spacey city - this general
effect is helped by the several really nice gardens in the City. Additionally
there is quite a lot of information about visiting nearbye Amber with it's old town, Amber Palace and several massive
Indian Forts (Jaigarh Fort and Amber Fort itself)..
Jodhpur, India Holiday Guide Sightseeing, Travel and Holiday guide.
Jodhpur is known as the Blue City - it's one of Rajasthan's largest cities and
dominated by the massive Meherangarh Fort. Our guides to the city include many
photos as well as items about entrance fees, where various nearbye places of
interest are located and what to expect when you visit. Also there are quite a
few photos to give an idea of what Jodhpur looks like plus information from
around the Old City including it's huge market.
Holiday
Guide for Jaisalmer, India. Situated out in the Thar desert and
fairly close to the Indian-Pakistani border this fairly small Rajasthan Indian
Town is known as the Golden City because of the colour of it's excellent Fort which is built
from soft yellow Jurassic sandstone. Our Jaisalmer holiday and travel guides
describe how to get there, a little about accommodation and food, various costs
and a series of items about what to go and see - with plenty of photos.
Udaipur,
India Vacation Guide. Famous for it's City
Palace and nicknamed "The Lake City" because of it's two artificial lakes -
Fateh Sagar Lake and Lake Pichola - Udaipur is certainly a must destination if
touring around Rajasthan. There are also several quite easily reached locations to
visit whilst staying in Udaipur including Kumbulgarh Fort, Nathdawra, Chittorgarh
Fort and Ranakpur. Our Udaipur holiday guide has information and photos about visiting these and others plus a bit about
travelling too and around the city plus prices, hotels and so on.
Generally about Travelling and Holidays in India. Please see our India-General topic which covers infernal touts, getting around in India, accommodation, food and so on which we encountered whilst on our multi-city touring around Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan whilst on holiday in India during February and March 2009.
